As millions of travellers remain stranded and unable to get home following the volcanic eruption in Iceland on Wednesday, it seems the crisis has made its way into the celebrity world, too.
Girls Aloud beauty Cheryl Cole is one of many who has had to cancel plans because of the natural disaster.
The singer was due to perform a solo gig in the Spanish capital this week.

Cheryl Cole is preparing to ‘divorce with dignity’ despite her estranged husband’s attempts to win her back.
The X Factor star has started making plans to end her three-and-a-half-year marriage to footballer Ashley Cole.
Her management have made at least three appointments with lawyers for the singer since her separation from the cheating Chelsea player in February.
But she missed the meetings as she was suffering from bronchitis, and on one occasion because she was working in Los Angeles. Now she is taking matters into her own hands.
The plans come despite the couple being back on good speaking terms.
They have even scheduled to meet. A source said: ‘There are no divorce lawyers yet, Cheryl wants to do everything on her own terms.
‘She is speaking to Ashley, they are texting – she even calls him babe – but as much as she loves him, there is no way back. This is divorce with dignity, it is Cheryl’s style.
‘When it happens, it will be quick, quiet and painless.’
Sources say the Girls Aloud singer, 26, is likely to keep the couple’s nine-bedroom home just outside Godalming, Surrey, which they bought for £3.5million in 2008.
After alterations, the property is now said to be worth £6million.
The couple have a joint £ 22million fortune. The friend added: ‘Any divorce will be away from the public eye and swift.
‘It will not be acrimonious and will likely be after the World Cup. All Cheryl wants is her home and her dogs.’
The pair married in a lavish ceremony in 2006. But in 2008 they were rocked by speculation about the 29-year-old footballer’s infidelity.
Further allegations of his cheating with a number of women emerged in February.
He tried desperately to persuade his wife not to divorce him, arranging face-to-face meetings.
A spokesman for Mrs Cole declined to comment last night.

Hiya everyone, i know it’s been a little while since there’s been motion to Cheryl Daily, but that’s all changing. March was a very busy month for me both online and personally, my design website grew massively in popularity and i really struggled to keep up with the work load and find time to update the site, and i also went into hospital for a week which drawn things to a total stop. But since i came out of hospital, i have got things with VisionsByG.com under wraps and i am now able to manage both websites, and i couldnt be more happy. I have employed brand new staff members to help the website run smoothly, and have some great new features and projects coming up soon, including the return of CherylMB.com.
I have been working very hard on my design site, and the results show in this brand new look for the website, to commemorate the kick start of the site. There are tons of cool features to the header which might take you a while to find too. I was inspired to make a new layout when i was doing my monthly google searches. I like to see where the site stands amongst others in google results, and i was blown away. Cheryl Daily is in the top two spots on all cheryl searches, “Cheryl Fansite”, “Cheryl Cole Fansite” and “Cheryl Tweedy Fansite”, and we are now getting a solid 700 uniques a day on top of that, that just shows how much you guys love this website and i’d be a fool to not want to build the website after finding this out.
I just want to take this moment to thank each and everyone one of you who visit daily, and thank Cheryl for being a constant source of talent and inspiration to me, i love you with all my heart.  Cheryl has confessed that she is surprised by the rumours linking her to the US version of The X Factor, says a report.
The 26-year-old admitted that she has grown in confidence since appearing as a judge on the TV talent show.
She is reported in The Times of India as saying: “Frankly, it has come as a shock to me.
“It is a really scary thing. Why would they give it to me? They don’t know me and I’ve got this heavy Geordie accent.”
She continued: “My turn as star panellist on The X Factor UK may have blinded the nation. But it was nowhere close to as much shock as it came to me.
When I walked in that room, I didn’t know a single person apart from the girl doing my hair, who I loved, and Louis [Walsh], which was a different story altogether.”
Cheryl confessed that her X Factor post helped her to become a more confident person.
She added: “I began to feel a change in myself by sitting in the judge’s hotseat.
“I just became more confident. It all became slightly crazy and I think it could’ve done me head in if I’d allowed it to. But for me, this was about conquering a new fear of doing something by myself.”

A study of mobile users’ most searched-for stars revealed the X Factor judge’s name was 40% more popular than nearest rivals — singer Miley Cyrus and Twilight star Robert Pattinson. Her music is just as popular — with thousands of the erstwhile Girls Aloud star’s tracks downloaded each month.

Cheryl has issued a statement via her PR company’s Twitter account following speculation regarding her absent wedding ring.
The Fight For This Love singer, who has caused a media stir by apparently flaunting her ringless wedding finger whilst on a promotional tour in France has hit back at the press, breaking her dignified silence over her break up with Ashley Cole.
The X Factor judge has more than 3 Words to say to the media when she tweeted through Supersonic PR’s Twitter account stating: “I just wanted to clear up the stories about whether I am wearing my wedding ring in my own words as this has been going on for too long and is getting boring.”
“It is not some silly game I am playing. That is not me and not my style. There have been many occasions where I have not worn my wedding ring, many of those when I was pictured with Ashley.”
The Girls Aloud star added: “I find it crazy that people would think I use this as some sort of msg. Believe it or not Ashley is fully aware of any situation going on in our personal lives. He does not need to see a picture of me moving the hair out of my face to explain anything. Please drop it.”
After her furious rant, Supersonic PR tweeted: “Cheryl decided to tweet as she has had enough of the sh*t written about her. This allows Cheryl to have her say in her own words.”
